Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH)

FSDA’s WASH programming in South Sudan focuses on improving access to safe drinking water, sanitation, and hygiene to reduce disease and strengthen community wellbeing.

This includes drilling and rehabilitating boreholes, protecting wells, and training local water committees to manage facilities. On sanitation, FSDA supports the construction of latrines and promotes waste management, while hygiene promotion activities such as handwashing campaigns, school hygiene clubs, and distribution of soap and water treatment tablets help prevent waterborne illnesses.

Special attention is given to women and girls by ensuring safe access to water points and integrating menstrual hygiene management. FSDA’s WASH interventions contribute to healthier, more resilient, and more dignified lives for vulnerable communities.
